Hi Guys and Gals,
I have noticed some messages here regarding the ROS/M3C file format. I=
have a small MP3 player that uses MMCards with the "ROS"/M3C format. T=
his
player came with the Pontis L.E.D. software http://www.pontis.de and a =
PPA
reader. Unfortunately the PPA reader's drivers are highly unstable und=
er
2K and I haven't even tried them under XP. I have a USB reader that I
would like to use to write my cards with. The problem is that the L.E.=
D.
software does not recognise the reader as a "Pontis" device. I have
visited the Pontis web site and had a look at the M3C file format that =
they
have listed there. Unfortunately this document appears to be grossly o=
ut
of date as it specifies the Header format version 1 and the L.E.D. soft=
ware
appears to write with a header format of 2. After much research (and a=
couple of failed attempts at contacting Pontis tech support) I have wri=
tten
an application under XP that will dump the contents of the card. I am =
now
in the process of working out the missing pieces of the document. Toda=
y,
however I have stumbled across some links to the MP3 Audio Consortium w=
eb
site. http://barista.stanford.edu/m3c/ however, at the moment I keep
getting 11002 Host not found. I am not sure if it is a problem with th=
e
site or my ISP.
If anyone has any details on this format, or hints on where I could loo=
k.
Please let me know. In the mean time I will keep trying to decode the
format and publish what I find.
Thanks,
Gra
